Garmin POI Loader Installation Instructions

Installation is simple and will take about 1-2 minutes.

Save downloaded files to your hard drive ( e.g. c:/Garmin/POI/ )

 
Remember where the files are saved. You will need to use some of the provided files later.
 
IMPORTANT: Do not struggle. You can find a contact link on all our web pages. Please let us know if you have a problem and WE WILL WORK IT OUT. The features are hardware and software dependent.

  


Download POI loader from Garmin's web site.
Install POI loader on your Mac or PC computer.

To load POIs using Express mode: (from POI Loader Help file)

  

1. Turn on your Garmin GPS device and connect it to your PC. If you are using a card reader, connect it to your PC.

2. Open POI Loader and click Next.

3. Make sure the appropriate device appears in the Device field. If not, click Find Device. If you have multiple devices connected to your PC, select the device you want from the drop-down list.

4. Click Next.

5. Select the directory where the data files can be found.

6. Select the appropriate units for distance and speed (Feet and MPH or Meters and KPH). 
NOTE: POI Loader uses these units to interpret the data within the garmin csv files. If you select units that are different from the units used in the .csv files, your speed alerts will not be accurate.


7. Select Express, then click Next. POI Loader installs the POIs on your device.

8. Click Finish.  



Each time you use POI Loader, it erases the custom points of interest in your GPS and replaces them with new ones.
If you want more than one category in your GPS, you need to load multiple POI files at the same time. Keep your POI files updated in e.g. c:/Garmin/POI/
You can create multiple subfolders in that directory and POI loader will create multiple GPI files for easier POI management.
