I downloaded the 2009 map update. Now my NUVI680 shows many roads labeled with just the (I assume) the internal database key, e.g. cr44. This label bears no relation to reality; it is not the road name or the county/state road number. The banner shows the correct name when approaching the road and directions use the correct name. It is just the map labeling that is strange.
I had issues with a map upgrade on one of my nuvi 310's where after the updates all the directions were in numbers ie turn left on to highway 1 from road 2. Still does it even with new maps loaded. Have taken it to Garmin and they can't fault the unit, it still being investigated.
Anyone else had any problem like that?
Own two, nuvi 310 and nuvi 760. After having trouble with both I was told not to register until you learn there is map up date available. I bought in March registed . Update in July. Was told to pay for update because cutoff day was June 1st.
I just got a deal like that from Costco. In teh US the cost is $299, in Canada $329. It is a regular unit but the box also contains a card with the unlock code.
I purchased my Garmin 760 two years ago and recently updated to the latest maps by registering at My Garmin, paying the one off fee, which entitles you to unlimited upgrades for the life of that unit. Bonus also, if you travel is the maps now cover both Australia and New Zealand.
I have had no problems and am very happy with being able to check into My Garmin every few months and update to the latest map updates.
How can I save some money, if I need to buy a Navigator NT Europe? I have found some online retailers. Most will typically charge in the $129-150 range.
For two weeks on major roads, chances are I will be OK, even if it is not the absolutely latest version.
