Newbie here. I have had a Nuvi 680 for many years that I really like. However, I would like to know if I can upgrade the firmware or operating system so that lane assist and travel speed will show on the screen like they do on newer models?
I did a little searching and nothing like that seems to exist.
Garmin probably would like to see folks buy a new unit every few years. So my guess is that even if the older units could do new tricks with a firmware update, Garmin would not write such updates as it might slow the sales of new units.
In my googling, I did not come across any other sources of firmware for Garmin units except for Garmin. (unlike the routers that have 3rd party firmware that turns them into superrouters.)
Thanks for your note. I contacted Garmin and they told me it was not possible, no surprise there. However, I will keep searching as this would be really great.
