Hi, I have an integrated WIN CE 6.0 in dash DVD GPS entertainment system that came with Route66N7 2007 version.

The GPS seems to work fine except that it no longer plays sound files. Not even mp3's off the SD card play in normal music mode. Therefore I suspected the issue was not GPS software but at the OS level as it was affecting 2 applications. Note that sound files play fine off an external music player such as an iphone and blackberry.

I have found that when I open the WINCE Control Panel Volume control Properties, the volume slide control is at 0% and it wont let me move it to any sound level other than zero. I can move the slider and it automatically goes back to zero.

The GPS & mp3 player has worked once or twice in the 6 months I have had the unit, but I cant for the life of me work out why it chose to work in that 0.1% of cases and I cant replicate the environment when the sound files will actually play

Note that the normal Radio/DVD/Mobile music replay is muted whilst a GPS alert is 'playing', its just that the alert sound file does not play. I am using the standard 'british.db' or whatever the R66 sound file is called.

Any insight into my muted speech and sound file volume problem would be appreciated.

I you can also point me in the right direction to get the latest R66 software or similar from iGO etc, I would be appreciative.

On the second point, I have loaded new versions of R66, IGO8 and other software which will run on WINCE6.0 and created a path to the '.exe' GPS file, however, my GPS would run this software, only the old version that came with the unit.

I have also contacted R66 and IGO8 to purchase software and maps, however, since I didnt have a name brand, they were not interested in having me as a customer.

Again, any insight you can provide me would be appreciated.

Oh, lastly, thank you for all your POI's on this site. They are very useful. I also downloaded the icons for each alert category, however, the R66 file folder system doesn't seem to have an icon folder, rather it would appear that the icons are contained in a DB or DAT file of sole sort. It would be great if a traffic cam would show up as a camera icon rather than 'POI'

Thank you for your great work.

regards

ps: the Chinese seller/distributor provides no intelligent support whatsoever. There not interested in helping.

Just a guess here but I think one of your applications may have screwed the registry in some way which is why you cannot use the Volume slider any more.
Have you tried a hard reset on the device so tha the registry settings are set back to defaults.
You will of course have to reinstal your apps.
