I just received a Garmin Nuvi 3790T, This unit, for me, is an upgrade from the Nuvi 660.
I find that the touch screen is more sensitive than the Nuvi 660. This is a positive, because the 660 touch screen was very insensitive.
The most obvious feature to the Nuvi 3790T is the thin design, about 1/4 inch thin.
The Voice Command feature is new to me. This will be a very convenient feature to use, especially in heavy traffic. My early usage tells me that there could be more useful voice commands added.
The Lifetime FM Traffic Message Channel has annoying pop-up ads. To me, this is a big negative.
The Micro USB cable included is very short (18").
The suction cup mount is much sturdier than the one supplied with the Nuvi 660. The unit mount clip is better designed also.
I'd like to read others opinions on the Nuvi 3790T.
Yes, i agree with you guys, This unit is a nice GPS, it's almost look a like IPOD Touch.
i want to up load POI into this unit and no luck, it's not show any icon or camera alert. any one may know how, please share. Thank you.
Plug your GPS into your computer and wait until it is recognized by the computer. When serching through your GPS folders search for the file named "current.gpx".
Place you custom POI's in that folder (provided that that your POI's are also ".gpx"
Safely remove your GPS from your computer. Let it completly reboot. You custom PIO's should be in your "Favorites" menu.
Was wondering how the lifetime traffic updates were provided. How often do the adds pop up on screen ?
Was thinking of upgrading but may stay with the 765 for a while.
I have the 760 and now the 3790T. One question. This 3790T has the SPEED LIMIT icon with your current travelling speed on the bottom right hand corner. I note that the 'travelling speed' on the 3790T is always about 4/5 km slower than my car speedo. Is it the same for other 3790T owner? Oh, my car is the Mazda3.
In addition, when over the speed limit, I find it disappointing that the GPS does not provide any voice or tone warning.
The speed reading will be correct in the GPS. Your speedo reading is at fault as per most vehicles these days.
No voice warning for the 765 as well, only a red speed indicated warning. This is not a Garmin fault but a lack of info in the GPI file.
