I have the same problem. According to the book the system is supposed to accept either .csv or .klm files. When I plug in the memory stick with both types of files on it I get "no files found". I verified that the stick is working with music on the same stick and that works fine.

I contacted honda Navi and got the following reply

Thank you for contacting Honda Navigation Center. Unfortunately, there is no way to import POI files onto your navigation system. We apologize for any inconvenience.

There is a simple way to update your device but they do not want to publish it knowing that people won't buy their map updates if they have an option to update POIs. Generally, GPS owners mainly update their devices to get the latest POIs (20% changes per year) rather than streets and roads (0.001% changes per year).

Their case is quite strong: You can't blame and shame them now (unless they told you that you can update/load third party POIs). This apply to all In-Dash and Built-in GPS units with intentionally disabled POI updates mode.

How to add POI to Honda

You can use .csv files but they must be changed to .klm files first.
I used Extra POI Editor: https://www.gps-data-team.com/convert.php

Put poi files in Honda Navigation

"To Save File to USB Drive"
Save your files in separate categories
This will make them easier to find when searching for them.
When downloading to car download each file one at a time.
Use the .kml format

"To Download File"
With Navigation Map showing on the top screen:

Press "Menu Button"
Scroll down to "More Search Methods"
Select "Download POI"
At the bottom of screen press select button down to select "Import from USB"
Your files should come up on your screen from your USB Drive
Select the file you want to download and press "Enter"

"To Find your file"
With Navigation Map showing on the top screen

Press "Menu Button"
Scroll down to "More Search Methods"
Select "Download POI"
Your folders will be here for you to select.

"To Set Options for your POI files"
With Navigation Map showing on the top screen

Press "Settings"
Select "Navi Settings"
Scroll to "Download POI"
Select the folder you want to change options
- Set alerts (ON, OFF)
- Delete Category
- Edit Icon

Per the above Honda post. Another thing to remember, if you are only putting one category on your Honda Navigation be sure to have two categories on your USB stick because if you don't have two different categories on the stick the one will only say favorites and not the category name on your Navigation system.

@mgarledge - how do you create multiple categories? I created a .kml, saved it and put it on a thumb drive. I plug it in, the Navi sees it, seems to download it, then apparently reboots, but I can't find it. Any ideas?

Jeff, is your KML populated with any data? Can you see any data when you load it to the Garmin POI Editor: https://www.gps-data-team.com/convert.php

Be sure you select the menu button and not the settings button.
and follow this to find your POIs
Press "Menu Button"
Scroll down to "More Search Methods"
Select "Download POI"
Your folders will be here for you to select.

I create seperate file (directories) in Basecamp (you can create them any way you want or download them free from POI-Factory)
Food - with several food POIs in it
Business - with several businesses in it.

I then change them to .KML format one at a time

I then save each POI (directory, file...) separately to a folder on my PC. Then I plug in my USB drive into my PC and copy each category over to my USB one at a time. I then download them from the USB to my Navigation system per my directions one at a time.

You MUST have at least TWO POIs on your USB drive each time you try to download them to your car to get your system to see the individual category. If not they will come in as favorites. Move them one at a time and they will show up in your unit as what you name them.

The mistake most people make is trying to save their POIs with the Settings button. Remember it is the Menu button

This is great information. Now my problem is I can't get a map update disk because they say my device ID isn't valid. Crazy having a new car and not able to purchase a map update. Sad
