Help... I'm a new Garmin user, a bit lost with my SatNav... I seem to be going around in circles!
Just bought a Nuvi 1690, & downloaded some POI.

Is it possible (& How do I explicitly...) setup the Nuvi 1690 to :-

Arrow Priority 1
1 Load up with France, Belgium, Netherlands, etc. Safety Cameras
2 Can Safety Cameras be announced via a Proximity Alert
& can it be with a MP3 Warning Message

Arrow Priority 2
3 Load up with Other Tourist Data/Info
3 Provide Proximity Alerts when I get close to them too

I am using Garmins POI loader to create GPI files, apparently OK
but seem to end up with GPX files from this site... What do I do with them?) Embarassed

Kind Regards

Have a lok at the "Garmin POIs for Newbies" topic in here. It tells you how to go about it.

Basically you put the GPX, BMP and MP3 files into a folder. Bbest to use a series of different folders for different items and the POI Loader converts the files in the folder tree into a single POI GPI file on the GPS.

Its all a bit confusing to start with..
& also the Sat Nav / Tech/ Software version can be be 'particular'

Forgot to Mention Im using a Mac, so any procedure (or S/ware) might be a little different from PC users..

Cheers

I have an issue, if I use POI uploader the file gets converted to .gpi, the issue is when i look a waypoint in the file i uploaded, it comes up; however, there isn't any "go" button displayed. I tried Base Camp and Road Trip to upload the file; however, they end up in my favorites folder, not way to search (there are over 2000 waypoints in the file). I have tried send in Base Camp and it put in a temp file with the name "temp.gpx" in the gpx folder, i renamed it "cccc…d", still did work.

Need Help…..

regmikewall, I have a similar problem on the 3790T where no GO button shows up on screen. It is only happening with some POIs and others are working fine. It seems consistent so it may be something in the POI itself Sad
