GPS: Go Clever 5066

Post Setting iGo application to spend less memory

I have a navigation "GoClever" 5066 with 64 MB RAM, where I set up application iGo 8.3 with skin Gurjon. I turned on everything that could beginning with the 3d buildings, warnings, and I did include almost the whole map of Europe with a lot of POI (summer-car-tent-few countries like destinations). Untill now, sometimes, I've got message "OUT OF MEMORY", and I wonder if anyone still has a similar problem? What would be the most effective, to turn off some option or to "take out" some map or POI and what for example? Thanks

Hi,

Indeed you don't have much memory.

From my expericence, it helps if you keep on memory only the maps and Poi files that you currently need, delete the rest, make a backup on you computer.

Other things that help is to keep the routes with less waypoints, and keeping Pois shown on screen to a minimum, or none at all.

I also have a device with 64MB of RAM and I have sometimes problems with the memory. The first step you should try is to update your OS if you can. If you don't whant to have problems with IGO you shouldn't install any application which eats RAM but the gps software. You can also disable the terrain details and while driving to have it in 2D mode (in 3D it eats more RAM). You could also make it run in a lower resolution.

As far as I know anything using 3d uses up heaps of memory so I only use it when I want to play and pay the penalty

With the GJ6.3p being the Gurjon skin, there is a option to have scrolling street names. Make sure this is turned off as it doesnt work correctly, and for some reason creates the out of memory messages often. This can be found in the settings, bars and pads, then untick "scrolling street name"

Apart from that its recomemned to have land marks, 3d buildings, building visibility, and evelvated roads turned right down. Where as terrain only needs to be on medium.

Better yet, if you can install directly to the flash memory, and not be using a Mio pocket, Sd card style setup, ull have even less out of memory messages. Advangates are also if you have installed on flash and you get the momory reset, it will take about 30 seconds to reset and rectify. Over the 5 minutes ull be waiting ifs its running from a sd card, and using a mio pocket 3rd party style software.
