Hi All,
my new 1490T by Garmin never shows speed limit indicator, (tested in Ontario and Quebec). Is there an unlock function or it is a defective unit,
thanks.

Firstly, make sure that that model is supposed to show speed limits as not all do.
I have the 765t and it only shows a few speed limits as not all are included in the mapping.

I think, Candian Navteq maps general do not yet have the speed data on them or at least it is very rare to see it for the moment. The same with junction view...

Confirmed, as of now, the NAVTEQ isn't providing any speed limits in Quebec and has yet to be updated on traffic information which lacks precision. The information always seems to be outdated. I've been having a traffic alert (Red zones) driving at 120 km/h at 9:00 pm on local highways pratically alone.

After traveling in Vermont lately, the information is incredibly precise on speed limits. While crossing the 50 mph limit post on the side of the road, my Garmin changed instanly to this limit. I was impressed.

Is there any major urban areas outside Quebec in Canada offering this informations yet?

Try your speed limit feature in northern New England, it's impressive.

Check out the Junction View with the new map update 2011.40. It is much improved for Canada and it is Photoreal. Some say Garmin has taken 3000 photos in Canada. It works for my 1490 LMT. Hopefully Garmin will do it for US in the next map update.

The photo inputs are getting better with each map update in Australia also.
