| Posted by djc Amending/adding Nuvi POIs on the Nuvi After much hard work and a great deal of advice from members of this forum I have now setup my custom POIs on my new Nuvi 660. I am confident that I could easily amend the lists using the computer if necessary I have moved over from a Mio A201 running TomTom Navigator 6. With the TT I could easily add extra custom POIs and amend existing custom POIs using the device itself. So far I cannot see how to amend/add custom POIs just using the Nuvi. I can see how "Favourites" can be used but I would like to store permanent POIs under their relevant listings. I also have a problem seeing how to amend the "Home" setting so I have only just started moving up the learning curve. Are there any helpful web pages or web tutorials available for such housework on the Nuvi 660? |

Hi djc Save POIs to subfolders (see here or here). In addition, you can create a separate folder, name it e.g. c:\Permanent and run the POI Loader pointing to that folder. Rename generated POI.gpi, name it: Permanent.gpi and copy it to your Garmin if you want to have that "Permanent POI file". Hope it helps |

| Posted by djc Further points Thanks for that. I do understand this type of structure but I was hoping to be able to make the necessary changes using only the sat nav. Having to revert to the computer to do the necessary housework is rather clumsy. These operations could easily be carried out on TT Navigator 6. If I wish to temporary disable groups of POIs, such as non UK POIs when I am in the UK, could I change the name of a pgi file, say one called "campsites.pgi" to "campsites.pgx"? This would make the POIs unavailable but would this spurious files cause any operating problems? As you can see I am a complete Garmin Novice! |

| Posted by johnwanless1 Re adding POI to Nuvi 660 Hi, I run the same Nuvi 660 and have put all the POI's in the one folder. When you add a new one in I reload using the Garmin POI loader software and it adds to the existing. I also upgraded the firmware software for it as well. |
