What is the best way to plan a roadtrip on a 255W

Hi All

I recently spent a lot of time getting MapSource up & running so that I could create waypoints/routes to then upload to my GPS.

Unfortunately I also just now found out (correct me if I'm wrong) you cannot upload routes to the Garmin 255W. Which is a pity I thought it would at least have that feature.

My question then is how do people plan trips on the 255W.

They only method I saw was either setting each waypoint as a separate trip & one you get their sent a new destination/trip.

Alternatively I noticed if you put in the final destination & then backwards search for and add a "via waypoint" the others you can organise a sort of road trip. Only problem is through I can't see that you can find out how far away you are from your NEXT waypoint only the FINAL destination Waypoint.

How do other people get around this lacking feature?

I tested all editors, converters, geocoders and map tools.
The best one to plan a roadtrip is the Garmin POI Edit.

You can find any longitude and latitude on the map, or enter a street address and/or a town name and it'll find coordinates.

I mark all stops with a number, save them as a poi file and use it to navigate to my next stop point.
