Hi,
I'm using Garmin Mobile XT 500.40 on my Nokia N95. It doesn't show the speed limit for any of the roads I travel on - I expected that on backroads but not on, say, the M4 / M2 in Sydney. I've gone into the settings and enabled every warning I can find.
Any suggestions?
Also I've downloaded the Speed and Red light camera's POI and the mp3 files for warnings - how to I install the mp3 files?
TIA,
Wayne |

Ok - I've just checked the manual in relation to displaying the speed limit and apparently it is supposed to be:
Menu -> Tools -> Map
Under Vehicle there should be Show Speed Limit - but on mine it's not there.
Any thoughts?
MobileXT version 5.00.40s60.9
Cheers,
Wayne

| Hi Wayne. As far as i have seen (Ive got Garmin on N82) The maps dont have speed limits with them, you would have to create a CSV file with a series of locations along the road of your choice, pin a speed limit to each point and then save that to the speed cam poi file. Hopefully there is an quicker way but this is what i did with some of the major roads i drive frequently. Hope this helps

Goto tools>settings>map>show speed limit (yes)
POI's: I just put mine in E:\garmin\poi\ and it should work
I haven't tried it yet, but we'll see...

hi i am a newy to this, I have garmin xt insalled on my nokia n96. i have used the garmin poi loader. I have paid to download the csv files off this website - Once I use the Garmin poi loader it states I have sucessfully uploaded 15000 pois - I still can not see the speedcamera data - I can not see the icon as mentioned above.
Can some one please come up with an Idiots guide on how to get the information loaded correctly on the Mobile phone? It is now doing my head in!!!
Thanks in advance

I had the same problem and could not find how to get the speed limits back. It just vanished one day after i changed some font and other settings and never came back, no matter what i did.
Fortunately i did a software upgrade on my mobile and then a fresh install for Garmin XT. It fixed the problem.

Hi Guys,
I have the Garmin XT installed on my Nokia N96 as well, I used the Garmin POI loader as well...however I used the GPX file format when I downloaded and have had no trouble with the POI's. The POI downloader picked up the phone and downloaded to the correct file. When you use the Garmin POI downloader you can go into the settings and change the values so you can pick up the POI when you are a certain distance away or if over a certain speed.
Good luck
Steve

Hey,
I just found out that you that try and turn on and off the speed display form under the proximity points.
go to
Tools -> Settings -> Audio Notification -
Set it to continuous speed alerts
Should be all done....

I don't have this setting in my Mobile XT v5 on N96.
But I have found that not many roads around here have a speed alert, and it would be a real pain to make a POI for all of the missing speed limits.

I had the same issue with the "SPEED LIMIT km/h" sign being displayed but no speed in the middle of this on both my N95 & N96.
With the phone screen being small, I had the font under tools->settings->display->font size set to medium.
It make it easy to read, but the numbers are to big to display on the little speed limit sign.
I changed the font to small and I could see the bottom part of the numbers displayed.
I went to very small and it was still cropped and pretty small!
From here I went to work on identifying which font was used for what, and found GarminDejaVuSans-Bold.ttf in the fonts folder (mmc->Garmin->fonts) is the one used for the speed limit sign.
After backing up my original font, I then went to work on making the numbers a little more squat, and also moving them up.
The end result is that it now displays the speed on the little sign as good as possible with the font setting back at small.
There is a down side, but only a slight one.
Since I made the numbers a little squat and moved them up, anywhere the numbers from this font are used will display them a little higher and more squat than the surrounding text.
The main place this is noticed is in a speed zone (school zone) warning.
Since the tools->settings->display->font size makes all fonts smaller, I wasn't satisfied with the smaller size of the speed & heading/arrival numbers on the map page.
I found this font to be 0000Vera.ttf.
I've now made these numbers taller and fatter so they display really well with the font size set to small.
I may go in and edit all the font sizes and allignment at some stage, but I'm happy for now.
If anyone else is having the same issues, below is the link to the fonts I've uploaded.
