      Can anyone help me with a problem I am having with my Tom Tom. By reading other messages from Tom Tom users, I think the battery has had it (I have had the unit over a year now), but not having any tech skills I assumed that it would still work if it was plugged in the car oulet, but no. The car charger light (green) is not coming on, but the charger is getting hot but not operating the Tom Tom. I thought I'd try asking for help before throwing the item in the bin.

You haven't tried to use a phone charger on it, have you. I have seen that before and it has cooked the GPS unit.

Try and get hold of another charger first. Have had a charger die before. Try using USB cable from computer. Takes a lot longer.
