In case you're bored with listening to the Garmin voice that come pre-loaded with your Garmin and tired of the repetitive 'recalculating' you might like to try listening instead to Dr Nightmare!

Dr Nightmare speaks in a deep scary voice and certainly doesn't say 'recalculating'. Guaranteed to bring a smile to your face..!

These Garmin voices are not compatible with Garmin Nuvi 300 or Nuvi 600 series though.

You can download:
- Garmin Voice Studio Download
- Dave Zabriskie voice: Dr Nightmare for Garmin
- Dr Nightmare voice: Dr Nightmare for Garmin
- Elfred the Elf voice: Elfred the Elf for Garmin
- Mat White voice: Matt White
- Yeti voice: Yeti
- Squirrely voice: Squirrely

- UK voices:
- Saracens Front Row: The Saracens Front Row (UK)
- Adam Powell: Adam Powell (Saracens UK)
- Chris Wyles: Chris Wyles (Saracens UK)
- Neil de Kock: Neil de Kock (Saracens UK)

BTW - it's free!

How to install Garmin Nuvi voices:

1. Connect your Garmin
2. Find the "Garmin/Voice" folder on the Garmin GPS drive.
3. Save the voice to that folder.
4. Unplug the USB cable from your Garmin GPS device.

Just to add to the above post ...

Then you will need to go into your Garmin device, select Settings then select Language - you should then be able to see the voice you've just added.

Tick the box and you're away.

Garminers,
Just recently I discovered this great voice utility: Voice Utility. It allows you to create and edit your own, personalized non-TTS voice for Garmin. VPM files are in the /Garmin/Voice/ folder (GPS or SD cars).

This is what I do to create my own Garmin voice files:

1. Find on your GPS and copy to your computer a non-TTS voice (VPM file)
2. Backup your old voice file before you make any changes to it. Save it to some safe place.
3- Start VoiceEditor and select a VPM file name
4- Select Split to extract the VPM file content into separate WAV files
5- Use Microsoft's Sound Recorder, Audacity or any other WAV editor to preview/record/edit exported WAV files
6- Select Join to merge the WAV files back into a Garmin VPM formated voice file
7- Copy your new non-TTS VPM voice file to your GPS (backup your old voice file first)

Nuvi 2xx users can create WAV voice files with tts software
This is an excellent way to create your own voice alerts. Choose your voice (American/English; Male/Female), type what you want, and click download. A WAV file is created with your alert.

It's fun to have my kid's voice telling me: "Turn left Mum... Now! NOW! NOW!!!"

Got one yesterday, and have them in mine, works great.
Just downloaded all traffic POI's plus other Extra POI's that I use, and installed with POI loader...

I have found that you can record your own MP3 voice files to add to such things as POI and speed and red light alerts. Just make sure that the file name is exactly the same except for the extension .mp3 of course.

Regards.

Have tried them, bit of fun for a short while but will drive you crazy very quickly, also a bit distracting from the info you are being given.

I like them all, they are totally different to the standard Garmin voices, and they work great with the Garmin unit.
