1. Download Nokia GPS LMX files (landmarks) or convert any POI file with our online POI Manager or Extra POI Editor to LMX file format. You can also use our POI Editor to create your own custom LMX files.

2. Save LMX file to your memory card (e.g. Documents). Use USB "Data Transfer"

3. On your phone go to Settings >> Data mgr >> File mgr >> Documents

4. Copy all required POI files. Too many POIs may slow down or freeze your GPS Landmarks application.

5. Assign appropriate category to your POIs.
Goto Applications >> Landmarks >> Categories >> Uncategorised >> Options > Mark/Unmark >> Mark All

6. Return to Options and select Add To Category

Cheers

Here you can download audio alerts for a Nokia Navigator:

Audio alerts for Nokia (WAV samples):
Traffic camera ahead - download
Speed camera ahead - download
Redlight camera ahead - download
School zone ahead - download

How to set Nokia audio alerts:

1. Click on the download link with right mouse button, save to your HDD and copy audio file to your Nokia.

2. On your Nokia goto Settings >> Alarm and select category with your POIs

3. Change alarm settings - Visual alarm, Warning sound and distance

4. Press Save and exit

Hey Gents,

I seem to be getting stuck on point 3 here. Ive got a Nokia 6110 Navigator and i cant see a 'documents' folder anywhere in file manager.

Where am i meant to be copying the POI files? Ive currently just put them in root and experimented in a few other folders, but nothing is showing up when I go to add the POI's.

Is anyone having the same problem?

Thanks!

On your Nokia GPS phone find where you saved them using Nokia file manager and click it.

It will then open up in landmarks, I have just saved them to documents on storage card then found them using the phone, (does need to be unplugged from PC)

Took a while to open the Nokia speed camera database. I split them into speed zones so i have a different voice alert for each. One huge POI database will take ages!

Hi
Ming made some quick fix for extended character support. I converted your file with POI Manager for Garmin: http://garmin.gps-data-team.com/poi_manager.php
It looks OK now. POI manager will be slightly improved soon. I believe that you will have no problems with our current version. Please let me know if you have any other issue.

Just don't 'get' how to do this stuff.

Still trying to work out how to put the lmx files into the Navigator, and sorry, but given I'm not a techie (though I respect them GREATLY) I don't understand some of these instructions because they pre-suppose a lot of knowledge that some of us don't have.

For example, in 2) below, it says "2. On your Nokia goto Settings >> Alarm and select category with your POIs" Well I went to Settings >> and cannot find Alarm although I am sure it's behind some other icon group. Which one please, and can you take us from Settings>>all_the_way_through please.

3. Change alarm settings - Visual alarm, Warning sound and distance Again, haven't found this so not sure where to go next. Can you help please?

4. Press Save and exit - Ditto

Cheers

Hello people, I consider myself to be reasonably savvy on the computer & other technical goods like mobiles, but like others here, I'm struggling to get this POI thing working on my 6110.
I followed the links that Sam gave and downloaded the Australian>>Road Safety>>SpeedCam70-AU file in the Nokia Landmark format.
Next I transferred it to the documents folder on phone's memory card. Then following Sam's instructions, on the phone I went to Settings>>Data mgr>>File mgr and located the file on the card. Now this is where I get lost. The instructions say "4. Copy all required POI files. Too many POIs may slow down or freeze your GPS Landmarks application." Copy exactly how? Once I have highlighted the file, I can open it but this just shows 1 item called zone access info… The only other info displayed is Lat 33.S Long 151.E
So can anyone tell me where I'm going wrong here?
Thanks in advance. Clarry

Hi Clarry,
Try any other free POI file. That file is available to our registered users only.

I found I had to copy the files to phone using pcsuite. Then go to where I had saved them, open them up and save the landmarks. I then opened them in tools > landmarks and assigned a category and edited what i felt I needed to for my uses.

I have managed to get the Speed/Red Lights into the Landmarks and shown on the Maps but there is NO visual warnings or Audible. I did set the Options on the phone to Alarm. I think that Nokia have not alllowed these functions YET? Any ideas....
