Hi, just wondering if anybody could help, my Tom Tom 710 doesn't get past the tomtom find your way the easy way screen. I have tried reseting, but doesn't make any difference. It also will not turn off from the power button when it gets stuck on this screen?
Me too. Just got a TomTom710.
It was working fine out of the box and then I did my first Backup (having just installed TomTom Home. Then it stuck exactly like you describe.
Be interested to find out the solution. Should I just leave it on until the battery runs out then hope it boots up normally?
My brother in law had the same problem, when he installed tom tom home (in my computer) then we did the reinstalling without the fierewall and everything went ok, and the GPS worked normally again. Hope it helps. (i'm not too sure about T T's, Ihave a Garmin
i have had the same problem with my 910
everything seemed to be working fine, then backed up using tomtom home program & the unit keeps locking when i switch on, the only way i have got round this it to keep resetting it via back button, or by connecting it to my pc.
i dont seem to be loosing anything, its just it always happens before i go out. now i turn the unit on 15 mins before i depart, just in case ..
Hi all just wanted to ask if anyone with this problem has found the reset button that is at the back by the docking point.
If you look closely you will see a small notch at one side of the docking bay,
below this there is an even smaller push button that you will need a pin to push.
I seem to have similar prob. Tom Tom 710 that will not charge properly from the car charger even thought the green light is showing. I have tried to charge from the mains but nothing seems to work. Oddly, the unit still gives off a hissing sound even when it is shut off. I have a Mac computer so the Flash fix someone recommended doesn't work. Is this a fault I can fix?

: Excellent advice. Unit reset and is now working again...cheers.
I've found the reset button for the TOMTOM 710 which should help reboot the machine and hopefully solve your problems.
Its located at the back of the machine in the space where you hook the machine into the cradle or charger. The hole is on the inside lip to the left. Look carefully.
Wow I cannot believe it .... My Tom Tom has been as dead as a dodo for about a week despite charging it in the car and via the charger that i managed to locate in 'the draw of death' at home after 2 years....gathering dust
I spent about 10 minutes trying to work out where that little reset button was .... its on the right hand side inside the docking port on the unit...you need a thin needle or in my case a paper clip did the trick ..press and hold down for 20-30 seconds ... then press the on button on the top left
It turned on ... frightened the life out of me actually...
My Tom Tom wouldn't switch on, green light came on when was charging but wouldn't switch on. I ordered a new one and then my friend told me you could reset it . I googled it, found this web site and now have my old Tom Tom working again
Will be keeping new one and giving old one back to my partner!
If it can connect to your PC, run TT Home then delete the TT aplication off your TT, restart your TT, reconect to the PC then do an update. It should download the application again then is should work.
Note: make sure you always do a back up before attempting any tomtom mods to your GPS unit.
