OK... I downloaded the all-in-one .gpi file for speed cameras...it downloaded as gps-data-team.gpi.

First...it's small, so I'm guessing some or all of the data is missing.

Second, I've connected my Garmin 2557 to the computer and can't find a POI folder on the main unit or the SD card. I created a POI folder on the main unit but can't find anyway to access the POI from the GPS unit interface.

Am I missing something...I searched, but most instructions just said to drop in the POI folder after download.

Hi
First... I'll try to help. Size does not matter. It is easy to add any missing info.
Second, can you see the following path when you connect your Garmin to PC: Computer\nĂ¼vi 2xxx\Internal Storage\POI
Can you copy your GPI file to that folder?
Regards

Thanks for the quick answer. That folder structure did not exist, but I manually created it and dropped the gpi file into it. Still nit sure how to access the data.

I can see a checkbox for custom POIs under proximity alerts in the device settings, but is there a way to make sure the data is present before I leave for New Zealand on Thursday?

Hi gpquinn,

It should work if you can see our file listed on your device. You, as a registered user, can download CSV or GPX files and load them with Garmin's POI Loader. True, our system is faster, but the POI Loader will report how many locations is loaded.

Thank you for your help. I created the poi folder on the device, copied the .gpi file to it, downloaded the gpx file, then ran POI loader. It found the gpx file I had on my desktop and it confirmed loading all downloaded items to the device. I guess that means I'm all set.

Thanks again for the quick replies!
