I was wondering if someone has developed a POI that gives a sound alert when travelling over the speed limit in ALL zones...similar to the school zone one where the alert continuously sounds when you go over 40kph, until you drop below the posted speed limit.
I'm guessing it would have to be linked to the internal speed reading of the GPS device itself. I have a Garmin Nuvi760. Thanks.
I have a Nuvi 2797 and the speed shows up in red when it exceeds the speed limit. Whilst an audible alert could be a good feature, it could also drive you crazy every time the speed limit is exceeded by 1km/hr or more.
Unless you have cruise control on, it is hard to hold your speed exactly on the speed limit. Fluctuations of 1-2 km/hr are not unreasonable, so if you are trying to sit at 1km/hr under the limit it is possible that the alert would be going off all the time for as little as 1lm/hr over the limit. Maybe this is Garmin's rationale for not having the audible feature.
