Bongiorno,

I just bought the 3597LMT.
During navigation, the speed limits are shown in the lower left (icon). When my speed exceeds, the icon flashes, but it is not no audible warning sound.

How do I ensure that when I exceed the speed limit, Garmin also emits a sound signal?

Thank you very much!

Garmin does not include the audible alert. I have always been a Garmin user so I bought 2-3490's assuming they did. I am returning them and buying 2-Tom Tom's. The Tom Tom do have an audible alert. GARMIN needs to (excuse the pun) get up to speed.

Unfortunately this seems a function that the 3597 cannot perform, dont think Garmin want us to rely on this as a feature.

If you change locale to a country in Europe like Belgium, the settings will show up audible alerts option that's hidden normally. Having said so, it will not work with all streets, only few areas. Langauge and voices must be in American-Jill. Goodluck, Smile

Could you give us some detail on turning on the audible speed alerts?
Ie. Where is the "Locale" setting and where would the new option show up
Thanks

Just bought a 2595 LMT.

Audible alerts are on mine for speed limits and safety cameras (static and mobile) and I set them up here:

Settings
Scroll down to "Proximity Alerts". Click
Audio - click
Choose "single tone" "continuous tone" or "off".
SAVE

Only problem is they trigger immediately you go over the speed limit with no way to change the limit from say 30mph to 33mph before it triggers.

Good luck.

To set them on my 2360 I go to:

Settings
Navigation
Car
Proximity Points
Alerts
Choose which ones to alert for, then back up one and select Audio to set the alert. There is just a single tone though and it alarms only for POI, not speed.

I just got the 65LMT, and it does have an audible speed alert, but I wish it could be set for a few miles over the limit.

I have owned 3 different models of Garmin. None have audible speed alert related to the speed limit included in the map file. The current speed turns red if greater than the speed limit on newer models. My 255W didn't even do that. There's almost no way to respond to this without coming off as flippant, but does no one look at the instrument panel on the dash of the car? Even a glance once in a while? Should a driver get pulled over for speeding, lack of an audible on the GPS unit is not a valid defense. Most speedometers on cars are 2-3% faster than actual anyway, and that variance increases ever so slightly as the tire tread wears down.

Totally agree. People are just too lazy these days, and make one wonder how they maintain a licence let alone pass the test.
