GPS: Mercedes Benz Command

I have inbuilt Mercedes COMMAND GPS system. I am a member of GPS DATA TEAM website and have managed to download a .gpx file and placed it on an SD card in the folder named "PersonalPOI". COMMAND recognises it and I can get visual and audible alerts. Excellent.

Mercedes COMAND GPX has categories and icons.

Does anyone know how to quickly add this line to every POI? Or GPS-Data-Team can you create a gpx file for Mercedes COMAND?

Each POI in the School Zones file needs these lines added.
<gpxd:WptIconId IconId="8"></gpxd:WptIconId>
<gpxd:POICategory Cat="Schools"></gpxd:POICategory>

End result is this:
<gpxd:WptExtension>
<gpxd:WptIconId IconId="8"></gpxd:WptIconId>
<gpxd:POICategory Cat="Schools"></gpxd:POICategory>
<gpxd:Activity Active="true" Level="warning"></gpxd:Activity>
<gpxd:Presentation ShowOnMap="true"></gpxd:Presentation>
</gpxd:WptExtension>

For speed/red light cameras I am have used this line:
<gpxd:WptIconId IconId="16"></gpxd:WptIconId>
<gpxd:POICategory Cat="Cameras"></gpxd:POICategory>

and Fast Food!:
<gpxd:WptIconId IconId="11"></gpxd:WptIconId>
<gpxd:POICategory Cat="Fast Food"></gpxd:POICategory>

Any help would be great appreciated!!!

Thanks

It basically worked for me, I had to use a script to stop getting <name> in front of the names. It is a bit tricky to download and install, but possible.

The easiest solution would be a sed script, you just need a nerd to write it.

Easy.
Andrew just added a Mercedes Comand GPX POI format to our 'Members Only' POI Zone ( https://www.gps-data-team.com/gps-poi.php ). Please feel free to test and improve.

Hi,

I added a script to convert your Garmin CSV or Tomtom OV2 files to Mercedes Command GPX files:
http://www.gps-data-team.com/convert/poiedit.php

As a public-demand-driven site, I can add some format specific custom features if you find this script useful.

Please feel free to let me know what do you need.

Cheers

Does the .gpx files have to reside in the root of the SD card in its own folder, or can it sit alongside other folders containing music e.g. .mp3?

I am a registered user with no experience. Is there a way to download the properly formatted files for speed and red light cameras with no edition for a Mercedes Comand 2014 navigation system for different European countries ? I have downloaded files where you get properly formatted files to copy straight into your SD card. Rolling Eyes

Andrew just added a new GPX format for 2013 and later MB GPS units (Mercedes GPX 2013)

You can download ready-to-use files and updates in our GPS POI Zone: http://www.gps-data-team.com/gps-poi.php
or
convert your old files to MB GPX format with our online Poi Edit: http://www.gps-data-team.com/convert/poiedit.php

1. Create a new folder "PersonalPOI" on a SD card
2. Save MB GPX 2013 files to your SD card
3. Put the SD card into the Comand SD card slot
4. Select & Press [NAVI] Fn button to select and import PersonalPOIs
5. Select "Visual warning for PersonalPOIs" in the PersonalPOI menu
6. Call MB info line to ask why they disabled audio warnings for POIs

Hi,
Andrew created a tool to merge gpx files almost 15 years ago. You can use it to merge 2 GPX files:
https://www.gps-data-team.com/convert/merge-gpx.php
I hope it still works. I can add it to our Online POI Tool Box if you find it useful. We can also add a tool to change POI icons if you describe what you need.
I hope it helps.

I had problems getting this to work on my 2016 W205 C-Class with NTG5 using a Mac.

I fixed this by using Text Editor to edit and change... line encoding="iso-8859-2" TO... encoding="UTF-8" and 'saving as' with the options Linebreaks set to 'Windows CRLF' and Encoding (UTF-Cool

Hope this saves someone some time !

Hi Matty, and thanks!

1. You can go to the Downloads Setup page (press the OPTIONS button) and choose the UTF-8 charset and keep/remove accents options. Please try it and let me know...
2. Andrew can fix the Windows CRLF if you have any problem with our current line breaks.
