Is there anyone who uses Garmin Dezl Gps.

It is the 7" truck model that I am looking at purchasing for my Motor Home.

I want to know if I can download the POI's the same as the normal Garmin and can I organise the same.

Also what is the traffic updates and how do they work as no one seem to know anything about them and I don't want to spend $500 to fond out it is no good

Regards
Brian

Looks like a nice unit, will check them out myself, also for a motorhome.
From what I have researched it runs exactly the same as a normal Nuvi, so POI's should load as usual.

The traffic updates are pretty good, though if your like me I avoid all the cities as much as possible.

You can also hook up a reversing camera to this unit, bit of a plus for me too.

Cheers,

Hi
I have 3 reversing cameras now. Two on the rear of the bus, one for trailer hitch and other to watch the trailer itself which I alternate between and one on the rear of the trailer.

Not sure how the traffic updates work and if they are an extra cost etc?

Yes I do stay away from large towns and capital cities. Prefer the bush any day.

Will possibly buy one of these as the 4" is hard to see from the drivers seat as I have many POI's for camping, dump points etc so would like to know which one is setting off the alarm.

I do have audio for some of my alerts but not all as I can not create my own YET.

Will keep you inform if I go ahead with the purchase.

Regards

Was going to get one for the 4 WD but too large. It would be ideal for motorhome etc with larger front window.
The items that struck me were the gradient warnings and how steep, plus bridge heights along your chosen route, plus other helpful stuff for big rigs and vans.

Yes has a lot of good options but the details are very sketchy.

It may be too big for a 4x4 as the screen is rather large but that is what I am looking for as I drive a Hino bus and the screen is quite a distance and I can't read the 4 inch one. I can see the maps OK but when an alert comes up I can't read what it is.

I now have a number to ring at Garmin so will try and ring tomorrow and see what happens.

My two main concerns are the option to load the POI's as per my existing unit and also how the road advise works and if you pay for it or is it an addition module etc.

The salesman have no idea. They just said it is a Garmin and all Garmins are the same LOL

I have made contact with Garmin support and they confirm that all the features of older style Garmin are still the same and the traffic update is free included and the information comes in through an aerial in the power cord.

I have bought my new GPs and it appears to work well. I love the lane direction and have finally connected to the poi loader but I had to do the update for it to be recognised.

I am still trying to get all the features to work but the option to set up your rig for weight height and width a great advantages as I am 3.2 meters high and 11 meters long overall.

Can not activate a custom POI but sure that is just something I have to find, but so far I am happy

Viewing custom POIs on the map will depend on the device and your display settings. Some devices might not see the custom POIs when viewing the map. Depending on the device, custom POIs can be found in the Where To? menu under either Extras or Categories.

Here are some steps to try to get the POIs to display:

Zoom in to around 300ft or closer.
Check the map detail settings to make sure that the detail is set to highest on the device. For more information on changing the map detail level on your device, please refer to your device's owner's manual.

With these settings and the right device, you should see the custom POIs display on the map. If you are still having trouble, try sending the POIs to the device again.

Have 3 Garmin GPS's now and each have different menu systems.
Unfortunately you just have to search through each individual one to find what you are after. Can be a pain but that is "new" technology.

Garmin dezl 760 is a good unit, love it overall, way better than my co-driver's Rand McNally.

I've used the TND520 and now have the dezl560. I have to say that between those two models the TND has a nice searchable and interactive map and in-depth Truck/Fuel stop POI's (including many independent stops).
The Garmins are severely lacking in those two areas.

What is stopping you entering the Fuel stops from the link in your message.
You can download them and add to your Garmin, and they would be much more up to date than the ones that come with any unit at purchase.
Have yet to buy any brand of ANY electronic device that was up to date . Have had to do updates on everything digital.. Crying or Very sad
