New here, and need assistance about installing custom POI's and sound.

My Garmin Nuvi 2595 LMT has BaseCamp. Is this what I should be using to update POI's and if so, how do I get the audio alerts to work also?

Hi, use the Garmin POI loader, it's available here. Just make sure you load the files as a group.

You need to download the files you need into the same directory, make one called POI Files, and get the data file .gpx then the .mp3 then the .bmp file, then use poi loader.exe to load them to your gps, as explained here:

I used the POI Loader and was able to add them. Noticed that the BMP files and MP3 files are ignored. Is this because they may not be supported on my model of the GPS?

Some units have problems displaying bmp files, and have seen a work around for this, but don't worry about it as long as you have the sound file to warn you. Much safer than looking at the gps whilst driving.
Also, some units do not use the mp3 files and you have to then use the .wav file.
Get the SOX.exe file and place it in the same directory as POI loader file.

Sox.exe available here: http://www.gps-data-team.com/installation_instructions_garmin_poi_loader_3.php
