Hello! Smile

I have a bit of a situation going on with my Garmin Nuvi 650 -

I downloaded POI's and used POI loader to download them to my GPS. For some reason, the audio alerts will not play - it will beep, but neither the MP3 or the .WAV file will play when within a proximity.

Should the Nuvi 650's audio alert be in .MP3 or .WAV format? ...and can crop custom audio files (eg McDonald's audio slogan) to play as an alert?

Thanks in advance!!

Get and instal the SOX.exe program in the POI loader directory. See instructions below, posted by and thanks to other users:

I apologize for sounding like a newbee lol, I'm now just getting started to learn the wonders of GPS.

I already have sox.exe in the same folder where POI Loader is installed. I've tried both .WAV (which POI successfully runs sox.exe for that) and .MP3 and neither seem to work with the Nuvi 650.

Is there a step that I'm missing?

This is how I installed:

1> I created a folder with this path: C:/Garmin/GPS-Data-Team

2> I created sub folders of the different categories (eg. "Restaurants")

3> In each sub folder, I placed all the downloaded .BMP, .MP3 (or .WAV), and .GPX files.

4> I ran POI Loader and it seems to have installed successfully.

Afterwards, when I drive with the GPS on and drive by a POI location, it will alert me by a default ding sound and will show the name of the POI in red at the top, but will not play the .MP3 or .WAV file.

Hi thurmansevolution,
I'm encountering the same problem with my Garmin 2460LT and not sure what I'm doing wrong. Have you fix your problem? Would you mind telling me how you fix it?

Thanks.

Check that you have the name of the .mp3 or .wav EXACTLY the same as the poi file, e.g. Restaurants.gpx must have Restaurants.mp3 (not restaurants.mp3) both the spelling and the format must be the same - capitols, spaces etc. all must be the same.
