My farther has recently given me his old (faulty) Navman S50. Now, onto the problem. Basically I have all the original packaging for this device including NavDesk.

When I received the sat nav there was no files on it so I presumed this would be an easy job and installed the NavDesk software on my laptop. Once installed I installed the Navman software onto the device. However, every time I power down the device, it instantly looses all of the data stored on the device. The device currently does not have an SD card installed (just using the system memory 440mb).

I realise that I may have been brief on some of the information in this post (as it is late at night), so if you need any more information just feel free to request it.

Thank you in advanced for any help,

Thomas Brentnall

Thomas, don't waste your time playing around with it. ASK the old man for one that works and toss the faulty on in the bin.
All brands have cheap models out these days and will much cheaper than buying headache pills if you are going to attempt to repair/fix etc the faulty Navman.
(have had 2 Navmans and would never get another as the backup I had was non-existant)

Hi Thomas,

I represent Navman and may be able to help with this issue you are experiencing.

Firstly, could you provide me with some more details on the issue? Once the unit gets to the Accept/Decline screen once you've powered it on, are you able to proceed or does it keep looping back to this menu?

Kind Regards,
Navman Support

Good to see Navman support getting better. Only took 3 months to answer query, which was 2 months faster than my request for assistance 2 - 3 years ago. Ended up throwing both of my Navman's in the bin.

Hi
I am having problem with my Navman s50 also. When I turn it on I get the pic of the lady then the screen shows a computer -------usb-------sat nav with a red X on it. Some times the red X go's off but that is it, nothing else happens.

The problem with this unit could be the usb power connector being different pins /connection from the one shipped with unit going into upload/data connection mode.
Try the factory supplied car charger/power supply for unit.
Hoping this helps...
