GPS: Navman MY85XLT

I've had the unit one week, it worked fine the first few days but now it warns of speed cameras etc far too late. It seems to be 20 meters out of sync.

Also took it for a spin up the freeway and past Mount Colah the speed zone indicator no longer showed.

So my questions:
1. Are driver alerts erratic? Are they affected by cloud?
2. Are speed sone indicators very limited and not avaiable on freeways?

Thanks guys.

Rang Navman support and they say that resetting the unit will correct the out of sync problem - remains to be seen  Confused Speed zone indicator works only in urban areas  Crying or Very sad I tried reinstalling the software via Navdesk and it installed Mio Spirit instead of MY85XLT.  Fortunately I had a backup which fixed that one.

l have had heaps of problems with my Navman MY 85XLT I can preload destinations into MY PLaces then select one of the preloaded destintations then when driving for around 5 minutes the screen freezes and does advance the progress as l drive. The voice commands keep going but the further l go the further the voice gets behind. If l do not store any destinations and just select wherever l want to go (without storing it) the Navman performs as it should.
Has any one else experienced this ?

Peter

I read somewhere that this can be caused by not turning off Demo Mode.

Hi Rusty
oh how l wish it was that easy, from day one, hour one l had turned off demo mode, it's definately not that. l have reset, reloaded software, reloaded maps everything, even when l reset while mobile it freezes, pull up and after about 5 minutes everything is fine works like a charm, start driving again and it freezes up. Evil or Very Mad The people at Navman have been no help whatsoever.

Regards

HI All

I recently replaced an S90i - four years old - with an MY 85XLT.

Straight out of the box it gave false warnings, eg, it indicated a local safety camera 280 metres "ahead"- great, but the camera is in the next street running nearly parallel. Then the voice intoned '230 metres, ahead". Turn left, then left again and running from behind up to the camera (cunningly hidden in the foliage of a tree) there were no more warnings, until one turned the corner, when the voice informed of the same camera 20 metres ahead - only it was behind you. Warnings for level crossings and stop signs were for those in a parallel street.

IT is good with school zones, if you don't mind being informed there is a school zone ahead - when going in the opposite direction! Speed limit warnings are unreliable, to say the least.

Harvey Norman fobbed me off, when I requested a refund, and passed me over to Navman Support, which is in the Philippines. As usual, I could not understand the accent (even though I lived in SE Asia for two years) .
We finally managed to load the spring edition map, with no great improvement.

I again rang them later, with the same result - no progress. Such a pity the old S90i died; it was a worry at first, but came good following a map update, or two, after which I could not fault it.

Thank goodness for free map updates; perhaps the unit will come good, later.

Cheers
N. Gordon

I have experienced this issue too. It is quite annoying cause I use it for my business.

I have sent a support email off to Navman and hoping that they respond.

Why not return the GPS to the place of purchase and demnd a refund as the item is not fit for use as per advertised functions.
If they give you any crap, tell them you will pass it onto the proper authorities that cover these sales problems in your State. You do not have to accept what sales people tell you, as the laws cover faulty items at purchase.

Another good way to be heard by the shop of purchase, is to wait until they have a counter full of customers and make yourself heard in front of other prospective customers and see how quickly you get a hearing.
Don't carry on, just be firm and direct and don't take NO for an answer re return of goods.
