Post Software update process on 1490T via MyGarmin

I've updated my 1490T online to the latest 2011 maps on the free update. The process, thru USB, took a while but the whole process was fine. Afterwards in the MyGarmin profile, it's written that there is a software update available (no version or update number). So I did the whole process successfully. But I still got the "Update Available". Even after several times, I can't seem to be up-to-date. Anybody had this issue resolved? Thanks!

Just got my new Nuvi 1490T, and so am in the process of personalising it and giving it the lastest updates. I had the same problem, but solved it simply by closing MyGarmin, disconnecting the device, reconnecting and restarting MyGarmin. Bingo - it checked all the maps and drivers and told me it was now up to date. Had to do it twice though.

I also have a new 1490T and followed the instructions like alanandrose and it worked first time.
are you unpluging the unit after it copies the files to your gamin ( when it tells you to ) and letting it RESTART ( fully ) prior to reconnecting to the PC

As with most computer related updates, you have to re-boot for them to take effect. (Not all)
It pays to re-boot anyway, just to clear the RAM and start with refreshed data.

If you are really worried about it back up the gps, or not, (as you always should have a copy somewhere) turn it on then hold your finger on the battery icon for several seconds. On the new screen it will tell you up the top in the blue highlight what software version you are running and see if it is the latest software availabe. Beware, this is a self diagnosis section and should not be changed around with out knowing what you are doing. When finished just push exit and the GPS will restart.

I use 3790T unit, and I have the same issue as yours. I ignore the web page software updating notice, because I tried the different web browser, e.g. chrome and firefox, neither of them could successful update it yet.

On the contrary, I use garmin web update software can update the software. After updating, connect the unit to mygarmin, the software update notice still remains. Just ignore as I said.

Make sure you have updated the software successfully by checking the tools - system - on the unit.

...updating the unit software and updating maps are TWO different updates!

They should be done separately and definitely re-boot the unit after software updates.
(not needed after maps updates - unless there's a specific request during the download/update)

Are you unplugging the unit after it copies the files to your Gamin (when it tells you to), and letting it restart fully prior to reconnecting to the PC? If not, you may have to do a complete re-install of your map software.

I also have a new 1490T and followed the instructions

This worked for me Kept web page open
unplugged the sat/nav after the files copied to the unit( it tells you when to unplug it )
let sat/nav restart fully prior to reconnecting to the PC once it reconnected and could see it on dashboard clicked done

Did you do the full restart as per the instructions? I had to re boot myself and the click the done button. It reset perfectly with no errors.

I did my update and rebooted, no problems at all,

Just like a computer OS software update, taht normally requires a reboot.

I had the same problem with my 1490. I tried several times without success.

I switched to the 3790. The first time I updated the software it did the same thing so I reinstalled it again without success, after the third time I did not have the problem and it is functioning fine.

I am not sure why the Garmin devices do this but I think it may be a bug in some of there units and you need to be persistent to get it done.
