It is for unit 3790t, quickly connect your unit to computer, and then check myDashboard in Garmin website. You will find new map update available, to download it and install new map.

It is take very long time to download, and probably map version is 2011.30 (guessing), because I am still downloading.

When you buy your unit, you may get this bonus for updating map free, if you are, as me, lucky.

After updating to new map version which is AUS & NZ 2010.20 (Correct previous thread).


Drive test the new version map, previous problem about route has been fixed. So far, Feel good.

Post Free Lifetime Map Updates - Grrrr !

Well I have to admit that you guys who got your free map updates are smarter than me. I purchased my 3790T and made sure the receipt showed "Lifetime map updates". I also registered my unit within a day or so. BUT Embarassed I didn't get my magnifying glass out and read the back of the flyer that was in the box - so I didn't photocopy my receipt/barcode and send it in to Garmin. When I finally got around to looking for map updates, I was annoyed to find that I wasn't eligible and ain't getting any. MY FAULT - I DIDN'T READ THE FINE PRINT. My eyes are not perfect, but I do need a magnifyer to read it. Am I a little too cynical, or was it planned that way?
Anyway, the 3790T with voice commands is excellent (as long as the ambient noise is fairly low). Thanks to this web site the unit is invaluable when I do an annual northerly migration of 12,000 to 15,000 klms across the top and back.
