I own a Nuvi 255W and the base also included a round pad with a sticky side. I attached it to a flat area on my quad and plan to take it with me the next time I go out for a ride.

Does anybody know how well this pad sticks, or how well the base suction cup will stick to this pad? I travel in some fairly rough terrain with my machine and am trying to build up a POI data base of trails to share with other quadders.

My concern is that the sticky pad not come off while on a rough ride. Speed is not an issue as we do not travel fast on most rides as we are traveling through bush, rocks, etc..

Any comments would be appreciated.

The pad sticks very strongly but it doesn't have much give to accommodate curved surfaces ie. You need a flat surface to stick it to otherwise it will move and eventually come unstuck. If you have a slightly curved surface then the suction pad may stick just as well. In any case, I would be adding a tether.

The disk is more intended to be stuck on fabric or textured surfaces where the suction cup would not stick.
