After updating latest unit software version 4, 3790T does support .mp3 audio file.

I have tried upload .wav file to the unit, but failed. Then, try upload the .mp3 audio file. It is successful。

Drive test the .mp3 audio work fine~

I love the unit so far. I coming from the TomTom on the iPhone, so a nice step up.
I am having some problems getting the custom POIs to work ok. I'll just keep trying.

to update the audio file, .wav is best choose than .mp3 for this device.

Correct my previous post.

Somebody mentioned earlier that their unit would not switch ON. This has happened to me once. I found a comment somewhere in a manual that said "Hold down the ON button for up to 30 seconds to reboot". It worked for me. It has never happened again.

I had the same thing happen with my 3790T. Rebooted successfully by holding the button down. Have had no more problems.

The new 3790T is a beautiful piece of hardware, no question. But I wonder why the Garmin people couldn't have the poi show on screen, as they do when you touch the screens on previous models and all other GPS brands!

My advice to all 3790 owners: protect it with care! I installed a plastic shield for its delicate screen and found a hard shell cover (an old optical glass cover) for it. It would be great if Garmin came out with a protection kit!

Hi, this is my first post to this forum! Have just got a 3790t and am wondering if I still need to use the sox.exe in order to use mp3 voice files? or is it enough to just get the latest software version?

I changed back with .wav, and found it works better with sox.exe than .mp3.

Just upload the .mp3 files for alert, but it doesn't work on 3790T.
Will try to change .mp3 to .wav, hope it will be ok.

Hi,
MP3 does not work on this model but if you load wave you will not have a problem as the audio is good...load it for school zone Laughing

But, icons still do not display on the screen. 3790T doesn't support icons very well.

I use the uploader to upload the following files into 3790T.
red_camera.wav
red_camera.bmp
red_camera.gpx

Moreover, you can zoom in the map by tapping screen twice; and set new location to go by pressing a point on the screen for a couple second until the new address display, then choose to go!

I have loaded on my 3790T

BMP for school zone
speed red cam
Traffic cam
variable speed cam

and do not have a problem ....you just load them on with your POI Loader as you do with your data updates for zone.
Good Luck

If I understand you correctly, you can't see the POI BMPs. You have to zoom in quite a bit before the BMPs show up on the screen.

I bought my 3790T a year ago. I am very happy with the product except for the software qulity in terms of crashes can be better after a year, I mean more stable. 1 year ago I saw several crashes a month. Now it's better, and I have now flashed the latest SW 4.20, will cross Europe in coming weeks so let's see, how you do Garmin!
