I have been using a TomTom device for the last two years and all has been well. I work as a van driver and so it lives in the van during the week and only sees my car at weekends. Last week the company supplied me with a new van and it cames with a Kenwood DNX5240BT fitted. It seems to work well enough (although touch-screen controls and a hard riding van do not mix) and the sat nav is good. It uses Garmin for the maps. My problem is that it doesn't alert me to the presence of speed cameras and I need to know this. How do I go about updating it so it tells me about speed cameras? I can't figure out how to get it out of the dashboard either so I'm unable to access the USB input. Can it be done by putting the relevant files on a CD and loading from there? Also, what specific files will I need? I'm in Scotland so don't need anything other than UK camera locations.
Sorry for all the questions on my first post. I really would like to use the Garmin unit as moving the TomTom from one vehicle to the other is a pain and having it stuck to the windscreen when I'm not in the van poses a security risk.
After downloading your POI database, use the Garmin POI Loader to install the POIs onto an SD card. Use the SD card to load the POIs. Refer to the POI Loader Help file for more information.
• The unit may restart when you insert an SD card.
• Each time you load custom POIs to the navigation system, any other custom POIs already saved in the system will be overwritten.
• The DNX5260BT and DNX520VBT use a microSD card.
Finding Custom POIs

Deleting Custom POIs
To delete all custom POIs from your navigation system, touch Tools > My Data > Custom POIs > Delete All. Touch Yes to confirm.
