Nuvi 855 -- Can you really turn it all the way off
I recently purchased a Garmin Nuvi 855. This unit has a removable battery that looks much like a modern cell phone battery. I have read some comments from a number of individuals who complain that it's impossible to shut the unit completely off, and that if you don't use it for a couple of days, it will drain the battery even if it appears to be turned off. One poster even stated their Nuvi killed their 6 month old CAR battery when they left it plugged into an always-on power port in their vehicle for 72 hours. This seems absurd to me but I thought I'd see if any of you have real world experience with this!
Nuvi 855 - Can you really turn it all the way off?
The Nuvi 805 Series user manual states (on p55) that if you slide the power key to the left you put it into "sleep" mode and operation will be suspended. It also states that the only way to completely turn off the Nuvi is to remove the battery.
