Often when I turn on my Garmin there is no sound output. Selecting mute or unmute or adjusting the volume brings it back - any known solution to this?

I have the same issue that the voice goes away from time to time but after I powered up the unit. I normally turn the unit off and back on and the voice comes back. I'll try what you did next time. Can't believe after 1.5 yr, the 1490T HW and FW still having the same issues.

Try updating your firmware. There was a bug in some versions of 1490T firmware that resulted in intermittent audio. I updated my firmware about a month ago and it fixed the problem ("intermittent audio" was one of the problems that was documented by Garmin as fixed in that firmw

I have been updating my Firmware and the last update seems to fix the issue. I have SW 5.00.

I had this same issue with the Garmin 1390T. Garmin reset the machine and did the software update but it did not fix the problem so they replaced the unit under warranty.
