Is there a way to get the custom Icons to display on the map where the factory loaded POIs are?
For example, there is a restaurant down the street from me. It is in the Garmin from the factory. Can I get the custom restaurants btmp icon to show up on the map for it instead of the default drink cup?
I have tried downloading them all into a folder and uploading them using the POI loader but I'm assuming they do not have the same name or something.
Try this - copy the original poi file and icon into a folder for back-up, in case a mistake is made; now delete both the icon and poi file from the satnav folder. Make another copy of the poi file and insert it into a new folder, along with the preferred icon(image). Rename them both with a name of your choosing, but make sure they are both spelt exactly the same. Drag and drop both files into the sat nav folder from which the originals came and now your preferred icon should show.
