GPS: Garmin SP7200

Since my initial summary of my Garmin 7200 I forgot to mention that this unit does not come with bluetooth and seems a backward step when you consider the other models (660 nuvi) have this facility. The unit price would not be a factor in this decision to omit.

Yes the 660 has blueooth and I would not bother with the FM version as it is very poor coming through to the radio.

The 765 sounds great through the car stereo, even MP3's played through the car stereo via the 765 sound as goos as CD quality.

How do you conenct the 765T with the car stereo? Through the FM transmitter or a cassette adapter? Can you connect it via Bluetooth, and if so, do you need an adapter if the car stereo does not have such a connection? Thx.

Garmin 765 Nuvi
Main screen: press "volume"
next screen: press "audoi output"
next screen: select "FM Transmitter"
press "OK"
next screen: where you see Current FM Frequency, touch the screen where you see the numbers, then, select a frequency at the lower end of spectrum, i.e 88.1 FM
Press "back " twice, and you are back at main screen and finished with the Garmin.
NEXT: TUNE your car radio to the same frequency, and ALL IS DONE.

CHEERS.. Wink

The Bluetooth feature in my Garmin 265W is a great safety feature. It saves me fumbling for my phone when I am on the road. he only problem is the map/navigator goes off while I am talking on the phone/Garmin unit......can the navigation map still be seen while I am having a phone conversation?

Post FM Transmission, Bluetooth, dialling

Guest, thanks for the tips re FM Transmission. I did it and it works like a dream for music and navigation directions. To avoid the slight hiss when there is no music playing, I got a long silent mp3 and play it in a loop if I do not feel like listening to music. This way I still have the navigation through the car stereo instead of the tinny Nuvi speaker.

To the guy who asked about reading SMS on the Nuvi, I have not managed to do that. I have an older Nokia 3210 (I think) which connects to the Nuvi via Bluetooth but contacts do not appear on the Nuvi nor can I get SMS texts on it. Hope that Garmin will soon give us a more complete telephone functionality on the Nuvi, including its own phone directory with multiple phone numbers per contact, and a list of the last, say, 5 dialled numbers with a Redial button. There is enough memory on the Nuvi 765T to allow for the above and much more...

Question: How can I set proximity alerts for selective items, such as areas with roadworks etc. which would blip once and would give a strong visual signal, such as flashing a read text?

Thanks.
