I know I have uploaded files from the computer in the past but have run into a brick wall presently. I have downloaded several files I want to upload to my Garmin 340. When I connect the device to a USB port Windows(XP) says "found new hardware" and insists that I insert a disk with install software. I have no such disk and don't think I ever did. As a result Windows doesn't recognize the device and I'm stuck. When I try to run the uploader the GPS isn't "there" for a destination. What now, pray tell? I'm planning a long trip in my motor home SE very soon and so any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I found this somewhere:

1. Uninstall POI Loader
2. Goto Start > Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager
3. Remove USB driver
4. Reinstal POI Loader

It worked for me.

Scratch this. I'm not sure just what I did but it's all running now. Uploaded all the files I wanted. Thanks for any interest..
