Does anyone know how I can remove POI alerts accidently loaded to favorites other than deleting them one by one?

Did you add directly to favourites or add using the poi upload software. If you have used the poi loader you can remove the poi file but you will loose all. I usually load poi's in groups eg shops and then rename the file before loading more and then you can just remove the shop set when you need changes and not have to load all your poi's again.

How do you create groups? My Poi loader will only take all files in a directory (CSV etc) and only compile them to poi.gpi. I'm using a Nuvi 250w.

Also, I can't seem to get the mp3 files to play, only the tones play.

I load everything into
c:\Garmin\poi\safety
.\shops
.\etc

When I update anything I copy it into the relevent sub-directory under Garmin\POI

Then use POI Loader to copy the converted POI.gpi to the GPS.

That way you don't lose anything, just update the relevant files..

Albert,
The Garim POI loader converts the input files CSV or GPX to a single file which is then loaded to your Gamin device as a Custom POI. Each time you send to the Garmin the old file is over-riden, and inclused everthing wich is in it.

I make a Folder on the PC called POI and then make sub-folders for example Accomodation - Public Tolilets - Restaurants etc ect. Now put all the POI dowloads from GPS site into the folders by categories as above.

Keep this Folder POI on your PC with ONLY the files you want to load to the Garmin They will then be loaded by POI Loader as a single file and the Folders you have created will appear in Custom POIs as headings.

So to DELETE some poi files that you now don't want on the Garmin, simply delete them from the folder on the PC Ie POI

So when you run POI Loader again ONLY the files in the POI folder on your pc will be there.

So all the addition and deletion is done on you PC. Onece you are happy with the Sub-Folders and files on the PC, run POI LOader and that is what you will have on the Garmin.

Thanks for the tip. I have started to do the same. The trick is to remember to rename the poi file before transfering it to the device.

From memory, the 250w will only play wav files. The upmarket models will play the MP3 files though. The music played from the garmin 765 to the car stereo is as good as the cd unit, just have to find a channel that doesn't have any interference on car radio.
