Is it possible to have the cable connect directly to a fuse in the fuse box? I would like to tuck the cable away instead of having it run over my stick shift

You could run the cord from the plug through the dash and then to the unit. Hard wiring it the car could be tricky and dangerous.

I suppose you could remove the plug and hardwire it directly to a switched power source in the fuse box. If you didn't want to remove the factory supplied plug, you could purchase a corded 12V lighter plug adapter, wire that in, and plug the factory cord into that tucked away out of sight. It would just be a little harder to get to if you wanted to remove it to switch to another vehicle unless you have a spare cord.
