Anybody installed Ver 7.0 maps on to the Nuvi yet? Garmin in Brisbane tell me they are still awaiting stock and Garmin USA told me today by phone that the update should load in to mapsource, that would be interesting.
I've loaded updates in the past and they go seemlessly into mapsource - I'm looking forward to my disk arriving in the next week or so. Everyone should remember that if you bought your unit after June or July this year (the release date of the update) then there is a free upgrade for us. Contact Garmin and they will help out getting it to you. Sweet!
I called Garmin on (02) 9844 6666 today, they advised that they had stock but there was an error in 1 file on the cd so they needed to replace the order, should be around a week.
However I rang Garmin USA this morning and they are unaware of any error and advised that the stock shows on thier system as been dispatch and no problems reported.
I also asked if the forthcoming cd would contain maps which I could use with Mapsource on my pc, they are unsure but advised I could save maps from mapsource to the SD card and they should load ok, however I have tried this and no maps show up on the list (about maps) only the ver6, has anybody been able to sent maps to a Nuvi
Thanks
Bruce
I received my update disk yesterday, and was pleased to find the update process was a real no-brainer. After reading all those stories about problems with unlocking maps etc I was a bit apprehensive - BUT it was so easy and simple - I just popped the CD in and followed the instructions - didn't need to enter id numbers or buggerise around, just logged onto the internet when it told me to, and bingo it all happened automatically.
Garmin really did a good job of making the update easy, and I now have the maps on my computer as well
I was very surprised to find my CD in the mail on Monday
installed very easy and loaded the maps in to mapsource aswel, very cool
an off topic question, If I go to Bangkok are there any maps which I can load in to the NuVi to help me get around, I have worldmaps but I would like more detail if possible
Thanks Bruce
