CSV & GPX are just different formats to keep and edit your POI on your PC, when you load them onto your Nuvi they are changed and saved as GPI.

What info do I lose if I convert from a Google Earth KML file to a CSV? or to a GPX? Haven't done this so not sure, just try it and see. if you change it to a CSV you can open and edit in Excel.
What info do I lose if I convert from a GPX to a CSV? Shouldn't lose anything.
Re: How to Convert a Garmin POI file (GPI, GPX and CSV)
On my Garmin 660, sold rebranded by a motorcycle manufacturer, there's an extra icon in the "where to" section that is a file of their dealerships. It has the positions all wrong though, sometimes miles from where they really are, and it's stored in a .gpi file. Using the excellent tools hereon, I can open the .gpi file, fix the coordinates, but I can't find how to save it back as the original .gpi file, just as a .gpx or a .csv, and if I save it as either and use POIloader, it loads this as a custom POI file, removing the extra icon in the "where to" section.
Ideally, I'd like to just edit the coordinates in the gpi file and save it back to the original location, without having to change anything else.
Re: How to Convert a Garmin POI file (GPI, GPX and CSV)
I've also tried installing it with POI loader, renaming it, and replacing the original manufacturer's GPI file with the renamed one - doesn't work. Something in the original .gpi file is responsible for adding the extra icon in the "where to" screen, which doesn't happen.
I guess what I need is an actual .gpi editor... Does such a thing exist?
I have my PIO's in a excel spread sheet as normal criteria:
Column A - Longitude
Column B - Latitude
Column C - Name
Column D - Information Address
However when I convert from the CSV file to GPX file and import into Garmin Basecamp only the first 3 columns (A,B,C) appear as PIO's in the software.
How do you convert the address information (Column) into the GPS file?
Hi macleadv,
Save your Excel file as a CSV file, load it with our online POI Editor and save it in any GPS format that you need. (e.g. CSV for POI Loader, GPX for Garmin Basecamp) or GPI to load directly to your Garmin)
