I checked many other Forums. They are also posting the same as us here and the same problem with installing the maps on SD\MMC cards we are having. Is there a hidden system file on the original Navman Maps? Or are the maps available for download not complete. Like to get hold of a Navman SD\MMC card to see if it can be cloned... Don't give up.. there has to be an answer.

grawoo,

My understanding is that there are two files, that 'lock' the map to the gps unit, in the same way that the Tom Tom maps generate a serial key when you register their maps. I think we would need some sort of keygen where you enter the unit number of your Navman, and that would then generate the right serial key files. I've had a look around and failed to find any navman keygens that looked genuine, and that I could trust not to infect my PC with various viruses.

I tried removing the two files that I thought were the lock files, but then the maps failed to load at all. Not sure what else to do. Without knowing the original units serial number you have no way of knowing how the keys are generated.

As a side note, I ended up buying the Tom Tom Western Europe CD for £10 from Halfords, and borrowed my Brothers Tom Tom, so it shows just how over priced the maps are.

RTC.

Hi guys, Sorry for interrupting in between. But I had the same problem when I was unlocking my UK map for Tom Tom. It took me ages to figure out what Files where locking it. But It was just one file that locks the Tom Tom map, I think its called Data.CHK or something. Ones I identifies the file I even used the same map for my PALM OS, WM 2003 and Symbian. it was just one file, which was a nightmare to resolve.

the way I resolved it was I downloaded tom tom for different countires and tried experimenting with the core system files that read the map and so spotted the right ones. I guess thats the easiest way to do it.

Or borrow from someone who has a working F20 for any country.

Now coming to my point, I've just moved from UK to NZ and my Navman F20 is in shipment. Once it arrives I'll need map for NZ, can anyone of you pls let me know where to download it from. Hopefully by that time you people would have resolved the problem anyway. I don't have my unit otherwise I would have tried myself.

Thanks

I have just about given up trying to make the maps work on SD card, tried many types of SD and MMC cards. But this may give a clue why they will not work. This from a German Forum site:
"emma81 at 2007-03-07 13:23 CET:
Currently it's not possible to add maps from other country to the Navman F20. The maps on the microsd-card depend to the serial of this mircosd card.
We first have to deactivate the security check of the navman."

Good luck in finding how that's done...

Further to my previous post, this is what's on other forums...
mininova.org/com/768037

and here they talk about Hidden Menu.

Read all before trying it...

We are not the only ones looking for a solution...

Hey guys,

Have you checked the files from the BeNeLux file you´ve talked about before. There are at least 2 or3 files containing some kind of reg.no. or key..... Can this perhaps be of some help in this chase for a solution?

Se "Source.txt" in root, "CDKEYS.dat" in Navman, "version.ini" in navman/system. Could be moore.....

Hi espin Yes we are able to see Countries Names in Maps menu, but when you go to Places of Interest, New Address etc.. do you get "No map data available" or are you able to see points of interest for those countries and enter address. ???

If you are able to see POI's etc. we will be very interested.

I have F20 purchased in the USA. The SD Card has all the US States on BUT the SD card says that it will only work with an F20 purchased in the USA. Could this card be made to work in a UK bought version?...it is a 13 connection type
