Hi, I currently have a Nokia E71 with the Nokia maps application installed and Nokia are charging a fortune for the maps software. Does any one have any alternatives that they can suggest, as I really don't want to have to pay a annual fee to use the gps maps. Its quite expensive and has comes as a bit of a shock more than anything.
Your feedback and suggestions would be absolutely great in this matter. If I find any alternatives I will be sure to let you all know.
Don't know if you have found this out already, but anyways;
Nokia (OVI) maps and voice guidance with street names are free now, have been like that for a while (almost a year?). Just make sure you update your Nokia Maps through the OVI store or other means.
I really like the OVI maps because it just get it done, so you should at least give it a try, unless Garmin XT mentioned above is good enough for your purposes.
I agree, the maps and voice files are free to down load on Ovi. The phone uses the internet to find locations though so make sure you bear this in mind.
I only bought a NavMan a few weeks back and I cannot believe how good the Nokia Sat Nav is. It even has speed cameras on it. Ill give it a few more weeks and if it is as good as it looks Im gonna sell my Navman.
