Post POI Loader on Vista - Try Compatibility Mode

I haven't run into issues with Vista and POI Loader. With Vista you do often need to go into properties (by right-clicking) and tell Vista to trust the program.

Also, I have found that Vista's Compatibility Mode works pretty well. If you are still having any trouble, right click on the installation.exe for POI Loader and run it under XP compatibility. It will install and run as if you were still on XP.

I have Vista home premium and have no problem. Try reinstalling poi loader with your Internet security protection closed. I have Norton 360 and it gives me all types of problems when installing new programs.

Post reinstall POI loader.

I have 32-bit Vista Business and had an issue witth the POI loader and Web Updater. Neither program would recognize my Garmin 765T. A reboot and then reinstallation of both programs fixed it.

Granted Vista is a bit finicky with the Garmin software.

I used this loader under XP and it transferred all files correctly. So it looks like Garmin doesn't support Vista, at least the home premium version

Yes, I have had much better with XP than Vista Home (this is what my laptop runs).

Vista doesn't only have issues with GPS's, it also seems to have alot of issues in other areas as well. I personally have learned to HATE vista.

But at any rate, if possible, I would try and connect your GPS to a PC that is running something other than vista, unless garmin actually releases a software update (don't hold your breath though).

Post agreed, reinstall and use GPX...

Vista in m experience has been picky; i had to reistall the POI loader and the Web updater 2x before they both worked. don't know the cause, but gpx file formats don't muck up as much as the csv format. if you don't have a preference, i'd use the gpx format.

if you rename your poi file in your gps after creating in your gps you can then add more. I have different directories in my pc for groups of poi's eg shops camps etc and then after loading I change the new poi file to the directory name I updated from. This way you can just upload the directory where the new changes are and not destroy all the others. Easy to do after a couple of tries. Easier than downloading all again especially if you use proximity warnings etc.

I am runing POI loader on Windows 7 with no issues, I also used POI Loader on Vista without any problems.

Windows 7 (beta) is so much better than Vista, lighter and less memory intense with out the DOS confines of XP.

I am having no issues with the POI loader although it does act a bit strange...like pauses during the install for ages.

Works in 32 and 64 bit Vista home premium here.
I found things work better when files converted to.gpx format.
Aslo, amke sure you have the permissions set correctly for working with the files.
