Post Time for updating maps is unacceptable

My computer has been updating these maps for 3 hours -- and it still shows 3hours 51 minutes remaining. That never changes. Why? Surely some time should come off of that ???? How am I supposed to know if something is wrong or not? I have no choice but to cancel - it's not moving at all. Very unacceptable.

Trying to update my nuvi maps... It's been saying "11.8% complete" for the last 3 hours. Something is obviously wrong on the Garmin side.

I can't believe that it's taking over 15 hours to update my NUVI 2455 LMT U.S. map. When Garmin says "lifetime maps", they actually mean, spend $50 more and you'll get your maps in a reasonable download time or else wait in line and get SLOOOOOW downloads with the rest of the non-payers.

It's not the GPS, computer or internet connection... I have a gaming computer that I built myself, and I'm running gigabit internet, and the download is taking 3 hours for my maps. You could have the fastest internet in the world, but the server you're downloading from can, and usually will, cap your download. Garmin servers are slow and they cap you download to the point that you want to give up..

I have same problem. Update was at 26% when I left house 4 hours ago, now its at 27.1% Speed says 115kbs. Seems to be the Garmin server.

Yes it is very slow. The indicator suggest 53 minutes remaining. But after 10 minutes, it does updated the remaining time. I thought there was a problem orginally. Then, I checked and I am sure that the data is downloading. I have a 25M internet connection.

So, you need to be very patient. Start the download and go to sleep. It takes t least 2 hours but i am not sure the exact time as I was sleeping when it was done.

If I had known how long this would take I wouldn't have bothered. $900 bucks for a GPS and I have to build the darned thing myself? RIDICULOUS !!!!!!!

Slow Garmin map updates for Windows: Try to disable Windows Defender, Microsoft Security Essentials, Get-Windows-10 and other background-running Microsoft's nuisances before you start downloading Garmin's map updates. These necessary nuisances do not working well with giga-map-file updates and may slow the installation process.

It's a crying shame Garmin Express can't be improved with faster download speeds... I have three units and it's a pain to update these. Is this intentional or are they just out of touch with true customer satisfaction?

Can't believe this us still an issue - 4 hours into the download it says 6hrs and more to go for Europe mapping on my nuvi. Pretty obvious nobody from Garmin gives a damn about this!

Isn't it called monopoly. As the only remaining GPS maker, they probably think they are the best.

My internet download speed is in excess of 70Mbps and have a highest spec custom-built computer. Tried a batch of 7 updates (bought Garmin $299 bundle) and progress was so slow I thought something was wrong and stopped the session. Now doing them one-by-one and the speed is abysmal. It's not your computer or internet; this is a Garmin server problem.

I bought two Topo maps for my new GPS. I updated the installer on Safari and permitted plug-ins. I switched off my anti-virus. I tried using Chrome, Firefox and Explorer, but was re-directed to Safari with a script. All to no avail. At one stage after some 50 mins of download, the progress bar reached some 8pct, then the downloaded "failed". I tried downloading late at night and in the early hours of the morning all to no avail. Either the progress bar got suck at the outset, or the download message "failed" popped up.
I rang up Garmin Support, and one staffer helpfully suggested that I was "the" problem! If anyone in Garmin is reading this board, please get a grip and sort out the Garmin servers, which obviously have a capacity problem
