DB3 Maximum import to RNS510

First post: Is there a maximum number of POI's that the RNS 510 can import.
I've hit a maximum number of 25. Otherwise is this a maximum number to export export to DB3 file. I save a tab delimited file from Excel to TXT remove all eronious characters (TABS etc) and import the file. it reads in very well creates the 28 POI's .db3 file. but the RNS 510 only reads the first 25. Sad

All GPS systems display just a limited number of locations (usually 25-50 POIs), But POIs are loaded, and you can search/navigate to them. Can you?

I have checked the number of POI's on the import screen and it reports only 25 loaded.
The distance from my location are also reported to a maximum of 105 miles. Which takes in Queen Elizabeth Hospital at Selly Oak Birmingham, but 2 Manchester POI's do not load. The RNS510 would have needed import to 210 miles.

Finally checking the MYPOI catogorry on the RNS510 it only displays the 25 loaded and viewing the maps only shows the Icons for the ones that did load.

I am about to try merging 2 db3 files, with 25 POI's in one and the remainder in the second. I just need to split the text file used to generate the db3 file.

Your DB3 file may be corrupted. Load it (or create a test POI file) with our DB3 POI Editor to see what's actually listed in your file. Our POI Editor can load more than 15000 POIs.

Thanks for your help, SOLVED!! Very Happy

My database before using the POI Edit online to create DB3 files is Excel.
to add POI's it is easy to copy the previous entry and change the bits that need changing.
I missed changing some postcodes. Sad

the RNS510 does only search in a small area, so searching from Winchester (my location) did not show ALL my new POI's. However a search near Manchester showed they were there!

Can I make groups of POI's instead of just one MyPOI under PersonalPOI, Your Icon is fine but a personal one is my nextjob!

Hi Keith,
You can use any POI icon with our online POI Editor.
Open your file with POI Editor and press the Options button to set, load and use your own BMP icon.

POI groups? for RNS-510

I have the Icon working OK.

Can I make groups of POI's inside one file, instead of just one MyPOI under PersonalPOI?
I now have 45 POI's and can search OK on the RNS510, but it would be easier if there were groups under
PersonalPOI like MyPOI-Hants and MyPOI-Dorset ......

Cannot open or merge db3 file(s)

Hi,

I have a db3 file of 43MB which I am trying to open or merge with another db3 file. I can load this db3 file on my RNS 510 without problems, but when I try to open it here, I get one waypoint showing: The Metropolitan Museum of Art (not part of my points).

The file is large but not beyond 15000 waypoints.

Any ideas appreciated.

Is there a programme to convert db3 files into other formats, without opening the file ?
