I have downloaded a new map onto my 4GB SD card to update my nuvi265W map. I properly formatted the SD card but it won't read the map!!! My software is up to date and the GPS recognizes new images from the SD card in my pictures folder but not the map! I'm desperate for answers, thank you!
I have heard that it's not so much the size of the SD card itself but how much space the GPS thinks it can use. So even though you may put a 4GB card into it and the GPS has no problems with the card, it may only use the first 2GB. This would be a programming issue as the software would need to be able to recognize that it can place data beyond the 2GB maximum location. It's possible that SD card size limits on older units may have been updated during the various firmware updates. There may even be firmware update notes that mention this if this is what they've done. The best way to test this is get a big card and try filling it with data. If your unit doesn't recognize all the data then you may have found the SD size limit.
Recommended micro-SD card size for DriveAssist 50LMT
I have the Garmin DriveAssist 50LMT. I know that you can have up to a maximum of a 64GB micro-SD card for both the camera and for map data. My question is what is the recommended size? Is a 32GB card adequate for the camera and a 64GB for the maps? Or vice versa? Or is anything more then 32GB just a waste?
