Can you upgrade the Volvo v60 sat Nav ( 2015) to show the Safety Cameras on the other side of the road that you are travelling? I know it pings in advance of the ones on the side you are travelling but doesn't flag up those on the other side of the road which cover both sides of the road. Thus the white markers on both sides of the road. Volvo say it isn't possible! The Sat Nav manufacturers emailed to say Volvo never requested this in the system so they can't do a software upgrade. It seems crazy to be warned of the Safety cameras on the travelling side of the road but not on the opposite side which can still capture you if you are unfortunately going too fast. All cameras must be in the database. If you do a u-turn then all of those cameras flag up, but not the original ones you passed!
I've recently become a proud possessor of a Volvo Sensus system (2013 XC60) and am also trying to import POIs. I've read the above over and again and cannot see what's wrong with the format produced by the "Sensus" flavour of the converter. However, the car just says "corrupt file" having followed the folder structure perfectly. The USB stick is FAT32 / 15.2 gb and has been formatted clean. Has anyone actually succeeded with this, yet?
- Mark - if you're still there can I send you my file of 2 POIs for you to have a look at?, please? And Volvo UK not helpful, as others have found.
Re: Preparing .gpx files for use in Volvo Sensus satnav
Hi , I have been directed here from another site, as I have been told you may be able to help with a problem.
I have with my 2015 Volvo V40 D4 SE LUX NAV. If this isn't the right place to post please let me know and I will start a new topic.
I downloaded the speed camera database which I have found to be really good on my old Tomtom. Now I have a built in satnav, I don't really want another one stuck on the windscreen, but I cannot get the cameras to show their speed limit icons on the Sensus screen.
I have checked that this database is compatible with Volvo, and have downloaded the appropriate file format Other GPX. I have transferred all of the GPX files together with their associated BMP files to a USB and placed them in the car socket.
On choosing Import locations from USB, clicking Root then Continue, I have the options to either add the files to an existing category folder, or create a new category. If I choose either option, I can only choose one or about 5 or 6 icons, and there is no option to choose the BMP file relevant to the GPX files.
Once uploaded, all of the camera locations show on the map, but only with the category icon, not the individual BMP file. So on approaching a camera location, the satnav dings once as an alert, but nothing shows in the top right corner of the screen to say what the speed limit actually is.
Is there any way to get the BMP file to show on the map, and also how to get this to show when approaching a camera? At the moment all I get are a lot of sound alerts but nothing to actually say what they refer to.
Hi, I don't try it myself but I find information about "After finish the data import, you will be able to assign a new sound to the category. Unfortunately, the icons are preinstalled and can not be changed."
I have a 2014 Volvo xc60 and trying to upload POI's into my GPS. I converted my list via an online excel to GPX converter. When I put the thumb drive in the usb port and attempt to import, i get the corrupt file message. What am i missing?
I am not familiar with GPX files, so this is kind of new for me... HELP!?
