Just completed a 1665 klm trip and no problems at all. Looks like the latest update fixed the rebooting problem. Also does a re calculate without mouthing off every time. Very good update that one.. Razz

Had mine lock up yesterday for no apparent reason. Shut down and restarted ok. Weird happenings occasionally, just like the older computers used to lockup pretty regularly. Evil or Very Mad

Post Reception strength

Can any of you please tell me what the reception strength of this model is like? I have the Garmin 3790T which has very weak reception strength. In cloudy days and especially in the city with tall building, it would just lose its way too easily. Other than that, the gps works fine.

Post Must Connect USB directly

Not so much a fault, but a bit of a pain. Just upgraded to 3597 and was pulling hair out trying to work out why laptop and Express wouldn't see my unit. Found that having the windscreen mount attached and the USB passing through the magnetic backplate stopped windows from seeing the USB device. Had to plug the USB cable directly into the back of the actual GPS and everything worked automagically.

Post Nuvi 3590 LMT stopped working suddenly

I have Nuvi 3590 LMT that had been working just fine for the last six months or so and then suddenly stopped working altogether. Is there some sort of firmware or other update that might be needed or could this just be a faulty unit?

The device MAY be in a "low power mode", so to get it out of that mode, I would try a "Soft Reset".

A "Soft Reset" is where you push and HOLD the power button for up to 1 full minute.

First try a "Soft Reset" without the device connected to any power..... if it does not work then try it while connected to power.

The device works fine on battery. When I plug the cord into my 12V automobile power supply, the screen goes dark. I tried turning the device off and on and I unplugged and plugged in the power supply cable.

My live traffic does not work, it always indicates my traffic attenna is not connected, but it is. I wonder if the cable has a fuse that my have blown. I believe it is a HD radio attenna.

Post Garmin 3590LM dark screen when plugged in to power.

I had the same problem as Calvin Wallace: my 3590LM worked on battery, but the screen went dark when plugged into the mount. A soft reset, holding the on button for 1 minute solved the problem and it now works fine when in the mount with power on. Thanks!

Yes. my unit will give a bright display on battery but when placed in the dash charging unit, it dims to the point you cannot see the display. Does anyone have a fix?

Post bad cable design

I am having the same problems and I have traced it to poor quality control when the cables are manufactured. After buying a new cable at $$$ and having it fail, I decided to operate and found that the wires on the plug that goes into the support had pulled out. The reason is that the flexible cover that is apparently designed to prevent cable wear at the knuckle actually creates a pulling force on the wire that over time will break the connection. A bit of delicate soldering, which took me a few hours, fixed the problem. I then installed a spring to prevent further pulling when the wire is flexed.
