Gift card is a great idea and if he decides to get a GPS, more than likely if he
purchases it after Xmas the price will be lower. The price increase of products leading into Xmas is bad.
Hey
I recommend you start with a Garmin 260w. I researched it on web and it appears to be good value for money. You won't do better at the sales than what you can do by purchasing on web right now.
I agree gift card, then buy after xmas much cheaper. with a GPS you may want to consider would he like a PDA which can also do a lot more than just be a GPS
If your dad is a tech geek, he would enjoy picking up the GPS himself. I bought a Tomtom for my husband's birthday and he was not happy as it was not the GPS he wanted!

I agree... Visa gift card (50$ for teens and 100$ for my lady) will save them a lot and I'll stay within my budget plan.
If you read the reviews about them you will find that the "best" on the market at present are Tom Tom closely followed by Garmin. All you need to do is work out how much you wish to spend and which features you need.
Can't go wrong with a nuvi. Garmin makes a great GPS. I have a Tomtom. I used to use but I find my phone to be a much better gps than the Tomtom series. From my experience in sales and with most gps devices the Nuvi is a good device. I find the gift card to be a little impersonal esp for your father.
