You will have to rescale/resize the icons from 24 bit to 8 bit format.
Seems to be a problem in that model.
Don't know why you need an icon anyway as it is not safe to be looking at small details on a GPS whilst driving.
The sound warning should be all that is required.

Summer comes and 3790T's hot issue bothers me now.

After putting the unit on the windscreen, Only drive 20min then touch the unit, too hot to touch.

The unit cannot work well with hot temp is the same as computer. Image freezing happens more often, as explained here: https://www.gps-data-team.com/pda-gps-navigation/topic/4903.html

It is annoying that my old Nuvi 310 can accept mp3 files from POI loader (and use them as sound alerts for points) and my brand new 3790T cannot.

After all 3790T can handle sound output (directions, street names, Garmin voices), and sound input (voice commands); and has a reasonable amount of internal storage.

Seems like all the new models now are not compatible with mp3. Better get used to WAV files and SOX.

I bought this device, looks nice but does anyone notice the GPS reception is weaker than the TomTom's?

Hi workstation, I agree. Compared to my other Garmin 760, this 3790 is certainly weaker in reception. I drove around the city yesterday and it constantly gets lost due to the tall buildings and has to keep recalculating. Very annoying. It got more lost than I was!

In addition, yesterday, it took me via this lane called Ash Lane which is a one way street. At the end of the street, it is a left-turn only but it kept wanting me to turn right from there. In addition, it kept wanting me to make illegal U-Turn even though in my setting, I have already checked that I want to avoid U-Turn.

So far, I am very disappointed with this 3790. My current advice is really to avoid it altogether until they fix all these problems. Until then, the older model or Tom Tom would have been a better choice. And yes, it runs very hot too which is not very comforting.

Got mine a few days ago. The graphics are excellent other things not so. My Nuvi 760 tells me there is a "speed camera" ahead. The 3790T just makes a sound, which can be any number of things. At least I can rely on the GPS Data Team to get meaningful warnings.

Hi there
I still use my Garmin Nuvi 310
I have no problems with it!

Any suggestions?

If you like electronic toys the answer is obvious. However there are advantages. Newer models have updated features such as "lane guidance" which is great in unfamiliar places. Other features such as traffic trends etc can also be helpful. If you can get "free map updates" for life that is even better.

I have had mine for a couple of days and noticed that satellite capture is improving with every trip. The first time I used it, it took about 2 kilometres to register. I think that the graphics are fabulous and so easy to read. I have software version 3.6 installed and have not noticed any great increase in temperature. My Nuvi 760 runs roughly at the same temperature and under the Sydney (Australia) sun anything would get very hot indeed.

Completely agree.

1. NO MP3 !! - disgusting these days
2. NO FM transmitter - unless Garmin thinks we should only concentrate on road (who really does it?) or looking on new 3790.

... reality is..... we all listen to some sort of 'things' while driving.

Either it's music ( pre-loaded MP3 via FM transmitter), news, weather etc
You can't do it with 3790T.

Stick your eyes and ears to it and listen to Karren for directions.

Today it is bad luck day to me, my 3790T got serious problem.

The unit firstly get image frozen during driving, I hold on/off key as again. The satellite signal is full but the unit couldn't work out the route. Then the map start to collapse. Whatever how I restarted the unit, the problem remain and I have to reuse my old 660, at least it still works.

I have to try to update the unit software and firmware to have a look what is going on. Really don't want to call Garman service in holiday season.

I own a 3790T too, it is a great GPS but the only problems that I have found is that it does not show school zones and the alert for these as well. Has anyone got a fix for this

You can rely on the GPS Data Team POIs for School Zones. Download the relevant POI file/s including any BMP file and WAV file for the spoken warning and that should resolve your problem.

Hi
new member with 3790T. I have downloader and poi from site, I think I should be downloading wav not mp3 for sound warnings. I have not had any issues with mine and love it.
