GPS: CoPilot Live v8

Post New CoPilot v8 with Text To Speech

I've been using the latest CoPilot v8 with Text to Speech as well as POI lookups through GPRS (internet). Have just successfully imported my regional rail POIs as well as the state's interstate exit POIs.

Had to use the .ov2 format as I couldn't get the .csv format to import ANY POIs; it would only go through the motion but import 0 points.

Was able to edit the imported POIs from within CP8 albeit VERY SLOWLY!

All in all, however, I am very pleased with the latest update. Previous version of CP8 (I upgraded from CP7 the day it was available and also purchased Live Services as soon as it was offered) left a lot to be desired, but this update seems to have fixed almost all the issues for me!

this is the same issue I'm getting with the Android version of CP8
I can't see the OV2 imports but I can see a directory created with POI name
eg N:\copilot\OC\Australia\save\user_places
but I can't see them on the map or search for them using Map POI search

About time copilot released a patch to work on Android 2.2 (froyo). Now I am happy with this software as I need to get to unknown places at times Smile
Definitely recommend this app as it is cheap and easy to use!

Hi All

I have CoPilot v8 for the iPhone & Smart Phone & I cannot rate it enough. Customer service is excellent, product is good. I think it came in the top 5, naturally Garmin came first, but then it costs more. So the trade off is obvious

Also have CoPilot Live 8 (for Android) and am loving it--I can happily confirm that (even though undocumented) TomTom POIs work very nicely with the Android version as explained here:

I do not know anybody with copilot to get some advice before I buy it. Is it good or not?

Hated my tom tom 130. hated tom tom.

Co-pilot 8.0 is inexxpensive and »I give 3 on 5 for quality.
A good deal on a HD2 android..

I tried it out it was pretty good. I still think the portable GPS on our phones needs to come a good ways until it beats the good ol garmin or tom tom.

I have not come across a better navigation product for Android to date and I have tried numerous options.

I tried several navigators in the last, hmm..., 8 years, starting with TomTom, which is my reference point. I drive much in the UK and Europe, so I am looking at the overall usability. The new Copilot Live Premium is not bad in this sense. You can operate it with one hand and without glasses, it has many features well organised in the menu, the quality of routing is good, advanced planning and roadblocks supported, etc.

It has a unique feature of being able to signal the speed and camera alerts even without a route. The only shortcoming is lack of mobile camera POI.

Tested over 6000 miles internationally - I will keep it.

Update. After the admin allowed me to download from this site, and after I disabled the feature in Firefox to tell the sites not to track me, i was able to download the the mobile camera poi file for the UK... A few new cameras appeared on the screen, but many are missing. In fact, the most dangerous locations are not included - where the road is good, no kids/cats, no record about accident black spots, and where the police are hiding particularly well in the bushes. So, I am still looking...

Serious accident locations were looked up here:

OK, a few days later the mobile camera database for my area is more or less complete. The official UK data on the camera locations was of great help. Entering the camera POI is simple.

An important feature is missing in Copilot - customisation of warnings on a per-category basis. Looking for a solution now. Please let me know if anyone has managed to hack this issue.
